FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions relating to our CREATIVE COURSE HOLIDAYS

What is included in the price of the course?

Each course description will give details of everything that is included in the price. However, as a standard, every course includes full-board accommodation in a private, ensuite bedroom in the venue. Every course will also include an excursion into Granada for an activity pertinent to the particular course - a visit to tapas bars, for example, or a trip around the Fine Art Gallery.

Is there any free time during the course?

During the week-long holiday, there will be one completely free day for you to do as you wish. We would suggest that you may want to book tickets to visit the Alhambra Palace in Granada on that day, or you may prefer to just chill in the village and walk through the stunning landscapes.

Who are the tutors?

Our tutors are experts in their field. Every tutor we work with has taught similar courses either in the UK and/or across Europe. They are used to working with groups of beginners and above, and everyone is welcome.

How large are the groups?

For most of our courses, the optimum number of participants will be between 8 and 10 people. We find, from experience, that this is a great number for both participant interaction and tuition. Any more than 10 and the group can become unwieldy and any less than 8 and the group can be a little quiet. For our cookery courses, we tend to work with slightly smaller groups (6 - 8 people) as it is such a hands-on course, as you can imagine!

Is there a fixed itinerary for each course?

The short answer is yes. We work with each tutor to accommodate his or her favoured way of teaching and we allow plenty of time for relaxation. These courses are designed to allow a lot of time to be inspired by the area in which we stay, and that can only happen if there is time to connect with nature, go out exploring, visit local markets and meet local people.

I am a solo traveller; are these courses suitable for me?

Absolutely! For several years, I (Ian) organised similar courses on a Greek island estate and creative courses are one of the most inclusive travel experiences. We aim to ensure that every guest of ours becomes immersed in the joy of the discipline and, through the creative content, they get to know much more about the people, culture and nature of Andalucia. You will get to know lovely people, either fellow participants or residents of our fabulous village.

I would like to bring a friend or a partner, so is there anything they can do while I am on the course?

Lots. If your partner or friend has any specific requirement, we will do our best to help. In the immediate vicinity, there are some gorgeous hiking routes, but it is possible to hire bikes, arrange trekking in the high mountains, go rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, horse-riding…you name it, we can do it.

Questions relating to the TRAVEL PORTFOLIOS

What questions will I be asked once I have ordered my portfolio?

Once you have completed and returned in the initial information sheet that you will receive on purchase of the portfolio, we will contact you either by phone or email and ask you what you and/or your family/friends enjoy doing in your spare time or if you have any special interests or hobbies. For example:

"When i'm on holiday I love to walk everywhere and discover local shops and relax with a coffee (or a nice cold glass of rosé). My 10yr old son loves animals and riding his bike and snorkeling. My husband loves his food & wine! And he's quite sporty so will probably want to climb a hill!"

So it can be as specific or as vague as you like although the more specific you are the more likely we will compile a portfolio that you will love.  Also, its just as important to tell us about things you hate!

My portfolio hasn't arrived. Where is it?

Contact us and we will send it to you as soon as we have created it. Each one is lovingly designed and crafted so allow up to 10 working days for it to arrive in your inbox. Don't forget to check your junk mail!

Are there any hidden charges?

The price quoted for each portfolio is fixed.  However, in the enhanced portfolio, if any client wants any additional services, then these will be costed separately and a quote provided beforehand.

I have special dietary requirements; will I be catered for?

You will find that many restaurants are particular about stating on their menus the ingredients used in their cooking.  Tapas is slightly more difficult, as these tend not to be featured on a menu.  We can give guidance and recommendations, but we can't be more specific than that.

Can we book tickets through you?

No. It is important to remember that we are not a tour operator or travel agency.  The whole point behind Granada Concierge is that we share our passion and our own experiences and then you can decide what you would like to do. Our services are aimed at the independent traveller and are designed to enhance any visit to Granada.  That said, if we recommend a particular event then we always provide the link to the Box Office where you can buy tickets at the official rate, in most cases avoiding agency mark-ups.

I can't speak any Spanish. Will this matter?

Generally the answer is no. On the coast most people will speak English but in Granada not many people do however almost all restaurants have english menus and at any tourist attraction there will always be someone who can help. If we think there are some phrases you need to look out for at specific locations then we will add this in the 'Essential Information' box in the portfolio.
