Learn traditional Flamenco dance in the stunning Granada countryside. Andalucia and Flamenco are inextricably intertwined. This 7 day course will explore the history of Flamenco, influences from around the world and modern-day interpretations. Guests will learn the techniques, beats, rhythms, and choreography accompanied by guitar and the cajón.
The course content aims to take a holistic approach to the elements of movement, choreography, singing and compas and the history of flamenco. The dates of this holiday, designed to be truly immersive, coincide with the 69th Festival of Granada, a three week long festival of Music and Dance, and we will include a visit to one of the concerts (subject to tickets availability), a visit to the caves of Sacromonte, in Granada, to see a performance followed by tapas and more spontaneous dance in the intimate setting of one of our favourite city centre bars. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the Alhambra Palace, the jewel in Granada’s crown (tickets not included in the course price).
No previous dance experience necessary, just lots of enthusiasm. If any guests would like to specialise in Flamenco guitar, or the cajón, and have some experience this can be arranged.
At the end of the week, the tutors and students will be invited to perform for the villagers in Moclín.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
The course tutor Natalie Solgala-Kaz is English, living in Granada and trained in Sevilla, and her band are Spanish.
Natalie teaches Flamenco and Sevillana at the Contradanza Dance Academy in Granada and performs regularly in venues around the city.
For our courses, Natalie is joined by her husband, Cacho, a Flamenco guitarist and singer and the couple inject the week with their passion and knowledge of this emotive art form.
Price per person 1350€ for the week (approximately £1235) to include 5 days’ tuition, full-board accommodation and excursions into Granada for the 69th Festival de Granada. Flights and Alhambra tickets are not included.

Accommodation is on a full-board basis in a charming rural hotel located in the very historic village of Moclín, about 35 minutes’ drive from Granada city and airport. Guests will have private twin ensuite bedrooms, all of which are spacious and very traditionally Andalucian in style. All classes will be held in the large studios in the hotel, and there will be plenty of opportunity to get out and explore the glorious surrounding countryside. The property, which is exclusively ours for the week, is arranged around a central open courtyard, has a roof terrace and is right on the edge of the village with panoramic views over the surrounding landscape.
