COURSE DETAILS

This very practical, intensive, hands-on course is aimed at both complete beginners and anyone who has some experience of using watercolour paints, but who wants to gain an insight into the delicate techniques of Botanical Art and Modern Calligraphy.

Over this weekend course, you will have the exciting opportunity to learn how to paint our beautiful native flora in an idyllic setting.

You will be guided through the theoretical aspects of painting flowers and leaves including composition, the importance of lighting a subject, materials and colour theory. There will then be plenty of opportunity to put theory into practice and for all guests to create their own finished pieces.

The course will also provide an introduction to Modern Calligraphy, the use of materials and the styles, to complement the watercolour painting elements.

The aim of the course is to provide the basic skills on which to build a lifelong interest in botanical art and calligraphy, and to create commercially viable finished works for print, greeting cards or larger single works of art.
