COURSE DETAILS

Andalucia and Flamenco are inextricably intertwined. This 7 day course will explore the history of Flamenco, influences from around the world, its moorish heritage and the modern-day interpretations. You will learn the beats, rhythms, and choreography accompanied by guitar and the cajón. Natalie, our tutor, is English and trained in Sevilla, and her band are Spanish.

The course will include a visit to the caves of Sacromonte, in Granada, to see a performance followed by tapas and more spontaneous dance in the intimate setting of one of our favourite city centre bars. There will also be one day of leisure during which you may wish to visit the famous Alhambra Palace.

At the end of the week, the tutors and students will be invited to perform in the village square to residents of the village.

No previous dance experience necessary, just lots of enthusiasm. If you would like to specialise in Flamenco guitar, or the cajón, and have some musical experience this can be arranged.

LOCATION

Moclín, Granada, SPAIN

ABOUT THE TUTOR

The first time Natalie saw Flamenco, she fell in love. It was a life changing moment that would go from taking a weekly class in London, to around 5 classes a week until she finally took the leap to move to Seville, Spain, to study professionally. Amongst some of her idols that she studied with were Adela Campallo, Carmen Ledesma and Manuela Carrasco. After 5 years in Seville, and 10 years of study, she moved to Granada where she started to form her own choreographies, formed a flamenco group and started teaching Flamenco in Granada city centre. She teaches a variety of groups including locals from Granada, Expats and Tourists passing through Spain. All students comment on her warmth and professionalism as a teacher and many are often surprised by what they achieve in her classes.
